Financial Features
Spend Sutra is a budgeting and categorization tool — not a financial services provider
Spend Sutra reads transaction alerts your bank or card issuer already sends you by SMS or email, and organizes them into categories, budgets, and spending trends. It does not connect to your bank account, does not move money, and does not provide any regulated financial service.
What Spend Sutra does
- Detects and categorizes transactions from SMS/email alerts (debits, credits, refunds, bill payments).
- Lets you set an overall monthly budget and per-category budgets, with progress tracking and alerts.
- Surfaces spending trends, recurring charges, and upcoming bill estimates based on observed patterns.
- Answers questions about your own stored spending data via an on-device AI assistant.
- Offers an optional encrypted backup of this data to your own Google Drive.

Spend Sutra only reads notifications that a user's bank or card issuer has already sent them — it never initiates a connection to, or requests credentials for, any financial institution. All budgeting figures and spending totals are derived entirely from these alerts and are for the user's own personal reference; the app does not represent this data as financial advice.
In-app purchases
The only purchase available in the app is an optional subscription to remove advertising (see Ads). This is a standard Google Play Billing digital subscription and is unrelated to any financial service.
